On 26 September 2025, Acting Senior Legal Aid Counsel/Kowloon Branch Office, Miss Kanas Wong and Legal Aid Counsel/Civil Litigation, Ms Tammy Hui delivered a talk to social workers and frontline staff of the Social Welfare Department, Hospital Authority and non-governmental organisations and introduced the work and services of the Department related to matrimonial matters on divorce, maintenance, child custody and mediation.

On 15 September 2025, Legal Aid Counsel/Crime, Mr William Wong, participated in the 2025 Government Career Fair at the University of Hong Kong and shared with the students on the service of the Department and career-related information.

On 14 September 2025, Director of Legal Aid, Mr Chris Chong (fourth from right on stage) officiated at the opening ceremony of Law Week 2025 under the theme “Law in Action: Building the Future Together” organised by the Law Society of Hong Kong in Tin Shui Wai. Colleagues of the Legal Aid Department actively participated in the first session of Free Legal Advice Programme by providing legal aid information on our services and answering enquiries.

On 3 September 2025, Assistant Principal Legal Aid Counsel/Kowloon Branch Office, Ms Rita Chin and Acting Assistant Principal Legal Aid Counsel/Crime, Ms Fanny Lo conducted a training course for solicitors, namely “Update on Legal Aid Schemes”, organised by the Hong Kong Academy of Law.

On 19 August 2025, Acting Senior Legal Aid Counsel/Application & Processing, Mr James Yeung, upon invitation by the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Hong Kong, delivered a talk on the Legal Aid Department’s various work and services to a group of social work students.

On 4 August 2025, Legal Aid Counsel/Application & Processing, Ms Agnes Kan, received a group of law students from the East China University of Political Science and Law and introduced to them the work and services of the Department. The visit was co-organised by the East China University of Political Science and Law and Hong Kong Bar Association.

On 14 July 2025, Legal Aid Counsel/Application & Processing, Miss Cynthia Chan, received a group of law students of the Peking University and introduced to them the work and services of the Department. The visit was co-organised by the Peking University and Hong Kong Bar Association.

Students also attended court case hearings at the High Court for a first-hand experience of court proceedings.

On 9 May 2025, Assistant Principal Legal Aid Counsel / Legal & Management Support, Mr David Chow, received officials from the Justice Bureau of Shenzhen, the Shenzhen Municipal Department of Legal Aid and the Judicial Supervisory Working Committee of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress. Mr Chow introduced them to the work and services of the Department and exchanged views on the provision of legal aid services.

On 25 April 2025, the Association for the Rights of Industrial Accident Victims organised an occupational safety photo exhibition to showcase the stories of the industrial victims and their families through installations of photography, scent and sound. The Director of Legal Aid, Mr Chris Chong, attended the opening ceremony and visited the photo exhibition together with Deputy Director of Legal Aid (Policy & Administration), Ms Juliana Chan; and Acting Deputy Director (Application & Processing), Ms Nancy Keung.

On 24 March 2025, Mr Simon Lau, Assistant Principal Legal Aid Counsel / Crime, conducted a training course “Legal Aid: Criminal Legal Aid, the Department and CFA” for more than 20 barristers on the rights to apply for legal aid, means and merits test. The training course was organised by the Hong Kong Bar Association.

On 19 March 2025, Senior Legal Aid Counsel / Civil Litigation, Ms Maze Chak hosted a talk for the frontline staff and volunteers of Po Leung Kuk Tsui Lam Centre on matrimonial litigation matters including divorce, maintenance, child custody, mediation and the legal aid services provided by the Department.

On 11 March 2025, the Chairman of Legal Aid Services Council, Professor William Leung; Director of Legal Aid, Mr Chris Chong; and Deputy Director (Application and Processing) Ms Juliana Chan, who were joined by the Director of Administration, Mrs Millie Ng; and Deputy Director of Administration, Ms Eva Yam, paid a visit to the new headquarters of Immigration Department in Tseung Kwan O. They were received by the Director of Immigration, Mr Benson Kwok, who introduced them to the documentation handling facilities and new marriage hall. The management colleagues of Immigration Department also shared their work experience with them.
