On 16 December 2021, Senior Legal Aid Counsel (Acting) / Application and Processing, Ms Michelle Lee, (right), and Senior Law Clerk I / Application & Processing, Mr Philip Leung (left), hosted a talk for members of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions and introduced legal aid services relating to employees’ compensation and personal injuries at work.

On 19 November 2021, the Director of Legal Aid, Mr Thomas Kwong (first left) officiated at the Opening Ceremony of the Law Week 30th Anniversary. Also officiating at the opening ceremony were the Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam (third left); the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, Mr Andrew Cheung (second left); the Secretary for Justice, Ms Teresa Cheng, SC, (second right); and the President of The Law Society of Hong Kong, Mr C. M. Chan (third right).

On 4 November 2021, Law Clerk, Miss Arlita Hung, and Assistant Clerical Officer, Ms Sinni Ng (third and fifth right), were awarded the individual awards of the Ombudsman’s Awards 2021 in commendation of their excellent customer service for the public. The Ombudsman Ms Winnie Chiu (fourth right), together with the Director (second right) and Deputy Directors of the Legal Aid Department, posed with the two awardees after the awards presentation ceremony.

On 19 October 2021, Legal Aid Counsel / Application & Processing, Ms Krista Sze (left) and Legal Aid Counsel / Civil Litigation, Miss Kanas Wong (right) hosted a talk for social workers and frontline staff from the Social Welfare Department, Hospital Authority and non-governmental organisations and introduced the department’s work and legal aid services relating to family issues including divorce, maintenance, child custody and family mediation.

On 19 September 2021, Senior Legal Aid Counsel (Acting) / Application and Processing, Ms Michelle Lee, participated in the production of a short legal tips video as one of the events for the Law Week 2021 organised by the Law Society. In the video, she briefly introduced about the Director of Legal Aid’s First Charge.

From 13-15 August 2021, the 3rd roving exhibition for the "Legal Aid Department 50th Anniversary” was held at the atrium of Ma On Shan Plaza. Exhibition items include panels and videos on the department’s historical development and scope of services, as well as the operation of the various legal aid schemes. Furthermore, augmented reality (AR) game booths and a humanoid robot are specially set up to interact with visitors so as to enhance their legal aid knowledge.

On 2 June 2021, the launching ceremony for the "Legal Aid Department 50th Anniversary Roving Exhibition" was officiated by the Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam (centre); the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, Mr Andrew Cheung Kui-nung (second left); the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung (second right); the Chairman of the Legal Aid Services Council, Professor William Leung (first left); and the Director of Legal Aid, Mr Thomas Kwong (first right), at the Hong Kong City Hall. To commemorate the Legal Aid Department’s 50th anniversary, a total of three roving exhibitions would be held to promote public understanding of the department’s contributions and work on legal aid services over the past half century.
